Starting July 4, 2022, any non-compliance in relation to overweight carton and oversize carton penalties will be visible on the Operational Performance dashboard in your Vendor Central pannel. No charges will be applied until the hard launch date, which will be communicated in due course with no less than 60 days’ notice.

The overweight carton and oversize carton penalties are applicable to the following categories:

• softlines,
• consumables (excluding Beer, Wines and Spirits),
• books and entertainment media,
• hardlines.

The penalties do not apply to products in:

• Amazon Fresh,
• Advantage and Vendor Flex.

The penalties cover two use cases:

• Overweight carton: This defect is triggered when the box you have shipped to an Amazon fulfillment center weighs more than 23 kg. The penalty fee is 1.25 EUR per box.
• Oversize carton: This defect is triggered when the box you have shipped to an Amazon fulfillment center has at least one dimension exceeding 63.5 cm. The penalty fee is 2.73 EUR per box.

Why is carton weight and size important?
Excessively sized or heavy boxes cause a hazard for the health and safety of Amazon associates working at Amazon fulfilment centres, which slows down the receipt of your goods, and raises the risk of boxes being rejected.

How can I prevent this penalties?
Ensure that each box containing more than one selling unit does not weigh more than 23 kg and does not exceed 63.5 cm for any dimension. The Amazon box weight limit is 15 kg per box, but this penalty will only apply to boxes heavier than 23 kg.
