Prepare your Amazon business for Brexit now!

The next few months are going to be a game changer for many Amazon sellers in Europe. Due to the UK leaving the European Union, Amazon sellers will have to meet new rules in order to be still able to sell on Amazon across Europe. Additionaly Amazon lately announced some big changes for FBA sellers using EFN or Pan-EU in the United Kingdom.

Prepare your business for transition, ahead of time, so you won’t get caught up by surprise.

There are two main scenarios in which you might be and that would require immediate action from your side:

  1. You’re a FBA seller storing only in the UK:

PROBLEM: From 1 January 2021, goods of EFN sellers storing in the UK will only be used for national orders and no longer to fulfil orders from other EU marketplaces. This means a decrease from 446 million to 66 million potential customers.

SOLUTION: To be able to continue selling in EU countries, you’ll need to store in at least one of the EU countries – that would mean to register for VAT in at least one of the following countries: France, Italy, Spain, Germany, Poland or Czech Republic.

  1. You’re a FBA seller not storing in the UK:

PROBLEM: From 1 January 2021, sellers not storing in the UK will not be able to get their orders fulfilled in the UK. This means losing as much as 66 million potential customers.

SOLUTION: To be able to continue selling in the UK, you’ll need to store there – that would mean to register for VAT in the UK.
