List of logistic abbreviations – letter F

  • FAK – Freight All Kind – tariff classification of a carrier for various types of goods, which are collected and sent together according to one freight rate. Consolidated shipments are generally classified as FAK
  • FAF – fuel adjustment factor; fuel correction factor
  • FAS – Free alongside ship – Delivered to the ship’s side, in the designated port of loading. The exporter has direct access to the ship for loading, e.g. bulk cargo or goods without containers
  • FCA – free carrier, it means that the load was delivered to the carrier
  • FCL – full load container; full container load
  • FCR – Forwarders Certificate of Receipt – certificate of receipt, whose main application is to support trade finance and the use of letters of credit
  • FEU – forty foot equivalent unit; unit equivalent to a 40-foot container
  • FEFO – first expiry first out; the principle that goods with the shortest validity are issued first
  • FIATA – the International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations, a non-governmental organization, today represents the industry covering approximately 40,000 forwarding companies, also known as “Transport Architects,” employing approximately 8-10 million people in 150 countries.
  • FIFO – first in first out; the principle that goods are stored for the longest time in the warehouse first
  • FOB – Free on Board – Shipped to a ship at a designated port of loading
  • Form A – a certificate of origin confirming the country or region of origin of the goods, required to take advantage of the preferential rate for imports from developing and less developed countries
  • FRI – frozen goods subject to veterinary or sanitary control
  • FRO – Frozen goods
  • FTK – Freight Tonne Kilometers – one FTK unit is one ton of cargo per kilometer. FTK is used to measure actual transport traffic
  • FTL – full track load
