Brexit Update: Cross-border delays expected for pallet shipments in/from the UK

The UK is set to leave the EU single market and customs union on January 1, 2021, and a customs border will be established between the UK and the EU. Because of these and other changes, we are experiencing reduced capacity and expect delays for shipments crossing the UK-EU border.

Reduced support for pallet shipments

The introduction of the customs border and increased activity around the winter holiday season are affecting transportation capacity between the UK and the EU. As a result, freight carriers cannot fully support current demand for palletized deliveries to Amazon fulfillment centers in the UK.

Changes to EU/UK cross-border pallet shipments as of December 18, 2020

Shipments booked after December 18, 2020, could face delays crossing the UK-EU border, and will only be available for pickup in January 2021, most probably after January 7th. For these shipments, you must be customs compliant and prepare documentation for clearing the customs.

Cancelling a cross-border pallet shipment

If your shipment can’t be transported across the UK-EU border before January 1, 2021, while you are not able to provide all nessesary documents needed to clear the customs, you should cancel your shipment immediately.
