When your business is established inside the EU, following the implementation of new EU VAT on e-Commerce (EU VOEC) legislation in the European Union earlier this month, it is essential to ensure that your business is still compliant with EU tax laws. Adoption of Union One Stop Shop (UOSS) doesn’t necessarily mean that all your EU VAT obligations are covered.
UOSS only covers cross border sales and doesn’t remove other obligations for obtaining a VAT registration number when you are holding inventory in other EU countries as local sales, and B2B sales remain taxable, in line with current VAT rules.
